About Us

We are Team Sonnenwagen Aachen, a student engineering team developing and racing solar-powered vehicles. Our team is based at RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen, where students design and build the solar cars entirely in-house. Members from different disciplines work on all aspects of the project, including engineering, software, strategy, and business. We compete in international solar car races such as the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge and the European Solar Challenge, testing our technology under real-world racing conditions and gaining hands-on engineering experience.

Meet Covestro Ӕthon

The newest member of the Sonnenwagen family. Built in 2025, this car was designed to be the most efficient vehicle the team has ever produced. One of the key innovations is the exterior, which was optimized to achieve a perfect balance between minimal aerodynamic drag and maximum solar cell performance.

Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2025

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge aims to promote and publicize the research and development of solar mobility. In the 3028-kilometer race through the Australian outback 34 teams from internationally renowned universities competed with their solar vehicles.
