What do we offer our members?

People

As a member of the club you will have the
opportunity to get in contact with our many contacts in industry and research. You will be able to work closely with senior engineers and management members. Additionaly you have access to our wide alumni network which has expanded since 2015. Lastly you will have the opportunity to work closely with many motivated students which might even turn into lifelong friends.

Experience

Sonnenwagen offers all its members the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge, acquired during their studies, into practical use through an engaging hands-on project. As a member, you will have the autonomy to manage your own tasks, contributing collectively to the creation of a new innovative solar car. Moreover, you are not confined to a single role; instead, you are encouraged to broaden your skillset, acquiring expertise that is valuable in a real-world professional setting.

Interdisciplinary

The development of solar cars requires the expertise of many fields of engineering and other disciplines. For this reason we are an interdisciplinary team with students from many different fields of study from RWTH and FH Aachen. In our opinion this is what makes us attractive and promotes know-how at all levels product development, implementation and marketing.

Australia

Our primary goal is to win the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. We will participate in the race with the newest Sonnenwagen, which has been newly developed and implemented from scratch over a time frame of about 1 1/2 years. We will travel to Australia with the entire team and give everything we have for one week to win the challenging race through the australian outback.
