Race is on, we’re halfway throug!
Dear Sonnenwagen friends,
Today we kicked off the 24-hour iLumen European Solar Challenge at exactly 12:00! Covestro Adelie and Covestro Æthon started the race in positions 1 and 6. Unfortunately, Æthon had some minor issues at the start and had to return to the pit box. However, these minor issues were quickly resolved, and both of our cars have been on the track ever since. As of 11:00 p.m., Covestro Adelie had already made one charging stop, and Covestro Æthon had made three. These charging stops all went very smoothly, just as we had practiced them.
Unfortunately, two of the other teams—the ones from Switzerland and Romania—had already been in accidents. The Swiss car was able to continue racing, but the Romanian car is unfortunately out of the race.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming many of our sponsors to Zolder today, which of course made us very happy. They were able to watch the livestream in front of the pit box, enjoyed snacks and drinks, and there was even a sim racing setup where everyone could take a lap around Circuit Zolder themselves.
Currently, Covestro Æthon is in 6th place and Covestro Adelie is in 3rd. But since the night is still young, we’ve already charged Adelie, and the two teams ahead of us still have a few charging stops to make, anything can still happen!

Heute starteten wir um Punkt 12:00 in die 24 Stunden der iLumen European Solar Challenge! Covestro Adelie und Covestro Æthon starteten auf Position 1 und 6 in das Rennen. Æthon hatte leider zu Anfang kleine Probleme und musste zurück in die Pitbox. Diese Problemchen konnten aber schnell gelöst werden und seitdem sind beide unsere Autos auf der Strecke. Jetzt gerade um 23:00 hatte Covestro Adelie bereits einen Ladestopp und Covestro Æthon hatte schon drei. Diese Ladestopps liefen alle sehr reibungslos und wie wir sie geübt hatten.
Leider hatten zwei der anderen Teams, das aus der Schweiz und aus Rumänien, schon einen Unfall. Das Auto aus der Schweiz konnte jetzt aber wieder weiterfahren; das aus Rumänien ist leider aus dem Rennen.
Wir durften heute auch viele unserer Sponsoren bei uns in Zolder begrüßen, was uns natürlich sehr gefreut hat. Diese konnten vor der Pitbox den Livestream schauen, hatten Snacks und Getränke und es gab sogar einen Sim-Racer bei uns, an dem jeder einmal selber eine Runde über den Circuit Zolder fahren konnte.
Aktuell ist Covestro Æthon auf Platz 6 und Covestro Adelie auf Platz 3. Da die Nacht aber noch jung ist und wir bereits mit Adelie geladen haben und beide Plätze vor uns auch noch ein paar Ladestopps machen müssen, ist noch alles offen!
